What Are Simmering Granules?

I know you are probably thinking what on earth are simmering granules! Let me explain. They are scented crystals that can be used in a variety of ways to fragrance your home beautifully. Unlike wax melts they do not melt and do not require water. They simply release their gorgeous scent as they gently warm. And the best part? They have so many more uses than you might expect!

1. The Real Reasons Simmering Granules Are So Versatile

Let me tell you simmering granules are one of the most versatile home fragrance products out there and that is one of the biggest reasons I love them so much. Yes they work beautifully in an oil burner with a tea light but they have so many other wonderful uses too.

They work brilliantly on electric wax warmers gently heating the crystals and filling the room with scent in as little as two minutes. They can be used to scent cards and letters — just use white granules as coloured ones may stain and only use a few. This is particularly popular at Christmas time so watch this space for our Christmas scents! You can pop them into an organza bag and place them wherever you store your trainers. They look beautiful in pretty dishes dotted around your home and are particularly popular in residential care homes where tea lights are not permitted. And some people even use them in ashtrays to help mask the smell of tobacco. So many uses from one little product!

4. You Are in Complete Control of Your Scent

I love this about simmering granules! You can completely manage the strength of your fragrance because you simply add more or less depending on your scent sensitivity or the size of your room. We recommend one to two teaspoons which is more than enough for most spaces but you can always add a little more for larger open rooms. The crystals do not melt and do not require water. Once the scent begins to fade you know it is time to refresh. Simple, easy and completely in your control.

5. Simmering Granules Are Actually Really Fun!

Now I love this one! Kids absolutely love scooping the crystals into the burner which makes it such a lovely family activity. But the really fun part is that you can mix different scents together to create your own completely unique blend. Try lavender mixed with eucalyptus for a relaxing yet head clearing combination. Or lemongrass with rosemary for an uplifting and focusing blend. There is no right or wrong — you are the boss!
